America Ferrera revealed she has no update on Barbie 2. While the rumors of a Barbie sequel continue to surface, the actress shared she has no information about the film.
America Ferrera says she has no updates on the Barbie sequel
In an exclusive interview with E! News, America Ferrera opened up about Barbie 2. She said, “I don’t know anything about Barbie 2. I don’t have to pretend like I don’t know anything because I actually don’t know anything.”
The sequel to Greta Gerwig’s film, Barbie, inspired by the Mattel toy, has been making rounds. The original film starred Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Ferrera’s remarks about the film came as the speculation about the movie continues. However, reportedly, the movie might be shelved due to salary negotiations between Warner Bros. and the original cast.
Ferrera also spoke about another character that she is playing in the Bill Hader-led film, The Cat in the Hat. She said, “The Cat in the Hat is so iconic. I grew up loving Dr. Seuss books and I have two littles and I’ve read The Cat in the Hat to them a ton. Actually, my favorite part of the book was always the very last line of the book which was, ‘What would you do if your mother asked you?’ And I’d always turn to my kids and be like, ‘Would you tell me the truth?’”
Ferrera played Gloria in the 2023 live-action Barbie movie; her new character has a different approach. She said, “Getting to say to my kids I’m going to be the voice of the mom in The Cat in the Hat, I did it for them. But a little bit for me. We saw it yesterday. We had the best time. They loved it. It was really sweet. I can’t tell if it gave me cool mom points or if they’re like, ‘Ugh, mom that’s you.’”
While Barbie 2’s future is uncertain, The Cat in the Hat is released on November 6, 2026.
