‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ Star Whitney Way Thore Explains Her Weight-Loss Shots

Whitney Way Thore has opened up about why she started taking weight-loss medication while trying to conceive. The My Big Fat Fabulous Life star revealed that her fertility doctor recommended the medication as part of her fertility journey, citing its potential effects on ovulation and reproductive hormones. After years of working toward motherhood, Whitney decided to follow the doctor’s advice.

During an exclusive interview with E! News, Whitney explained that her fertility doctor encouraged her to try the medication, advising, “Just take it, and then if you get pregnant, stop.” She added, “And so that’s why I started it.”

The 42-year-old also shared that the treatment was physically manageable and did not cause significant side effects. “I didn’t really have any side effects or anything like that,” she said, adding, “I think physically it was easy.”

However, medication was only one part of Whitney’s fertility journey. She had also found a sperm donor and planned to pursue pregnancy through intrauterine insemination. Although she initially worried about discussing her plans with her then-casual partner, Jake Beaudoin, he surprised her with his support.

Recalling his reaction, Whitney said, “He was so supportive and so excited, and he never wavered on that once and still hasn’t. So, that was really amazing.” The couple are now engaged, but Whitney admitted that she initially struggled with the idea of trusting someone after several disappointing relationships.

Reflecting on her dating experiences, she explained, “I’ve almost never dated a man that I leave the relationship having any shred of respect for.” She also acknowledged that past disappointments had made her cautious about starting something serious. As she put it, “You want to protect yourself and you want to not be as stupid as you might have been.”

Interestingly, Whitney and Jake first connected in 2018, but he ghosted her after they initially met and spent time together a couple of times. Despite those early complications, their relationship progressed quickly after Whitney shared her plans for motherhood.

Now engaged, Whitney is also excited about sharing this new chapter of her life with viewers.
