Chris Brown and Usher’s historic Atlanta concert run has gotten off to a rocky start. Fans have criticized the pair over lengthy delays, missed joint performances and a shortened setlist. The disappointing opening night has also sparked speculation about a possible rift between the two R&B stars.

Chris Brown and Usher face fan backlash amid record-breaking Atlanta concert run

According to TMZ, Chris Brown and Usher faced backlash from fans after their opening-night concert in Atlanta reportedly began more than two hours late on Nov. 5. The planned five-night run has since come under scrutiny.

However, the late start was only part of the problem. Fans complained that the two artists did not perform together and that they cut their planned setlist short. The performances also felt rushed, prompting some concertgoers to demand refunds from Ticketmaster. Many questioned whether the experience justified the expensive ticket prices.

The lack of joint performances also sparked rumors about a possible dispute between the singers. Brown appeared to address the speculation in an Instagram Story, writing, “Internet. don’t fall for it.” However, it remains unclear whether he was referring to an alleged fallout with Usher or the broader criticism surrounding the concert.

The opening night also drew criticism from local reviewers. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution described the performance as disappointing and noted that it did not feel like a joint concert. Usher even greeted the audience, saying, “Atlanta, welcome to my show.” His choice of words further fueled speculation about possible tension between the two artists.

Despite the disappointing opening night, the Atlanta concert run marks a major milestone for both artists. According to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Brown and Usher are set to become the first acts to perform five concerts at the venue during a single tour stop. The achievement will surpass Beyoncé’s previous record of four shows during her 2025 Cowboy Carter tour. Organizers announced the additional date in August following strong ticket demand.

The pair have four more Atlanta performances scheduled for Nov. 6, 8, 10 and 11. Following the opening-night backlash, attention now turns to whether the remaining shows will deliver the joint performances fans expected.
