Nicki Minaj once openly spoke out against Donald Trump. However, her improving relationship with the president has become hard to miss across the country. While some people support the rapper’s apparent shift, others aren’t happy about it. Amid the growing reactions, Jasmine Crockett has now stepped in to give Minaj a reality check.
Jasmine Crockett raises questions about ICE and immigration
According to TMZ’s coverage, Texas Congresswoman was spotted in New York City on Tuesday. Jasmine Crockett questioned Nicki Minaj’s alleged double standards, pointing out that the rapper isn’t even a U.S. citizen herself.
Yet, she argued, Minaj is acting like a MAGA megaphone for Donald Trump. Meanwhile, many other immigrants are being detained by ICE under the Trump administration.
Crockett said, “You talk about her not being a citizen. There are a lot of non-citizens right now that are being rounded up by ICE. We have a record number of deaths in ICE custody. We know that ICE has been going and terrorizing our communities.”
“So while I don’t appreciate what Nicki is up to, I do want other people to say, ‘You know what, I should be using my voice, because what is taking place is impacting all of us,'” she added.
Rep. Concluded, saying, “I don’t appreciate Nicki because I feel like everything that she’s doing is about herself. It has nothing to do with us collectively.”
For context, Jasmine Crockett isn’t the first person to speak out against the Trinidadian rapper or give her a reality check. Ever since Nicki Minaj showed her support for Donald Trump at a rally in Michigan, several people have publicly criticized her.
While the 43-year-old rapper’s support for MAGA has drawn criticism, President Donald Trump seems quite pleased with her. In fact, it’s fair to say that their relationship appears to be on good terms these days. One example came recently when the 80-year-old called Nicki Minaj’s suggestion of a White House job a good idea.
