Jimmy Kimmel wasted little time turning Donald Trump’s midterm setbacks into late-night material. As Democrats celebrated major victories, the ABC host delivered an election-night monologue aimed squarely at the president.
His Tuesday episode was taped roughly two hours before it aired, as election projections pointed toward Democratic victories in both chambers. Democrats scored surprise victories across several states, giving Kimmel plenty of material.
Jimmy Kimmel jokes Donald Trump got his “a**” handed to him after midterm results
Kimmel’s Nov. 3 monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! focused on Trump’s comments about Nicki Minaj’s and Sen. Jon Husted’s backsides. “It seems to be after all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s a**, Jon Husted’s a**, the only a** on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him,” he joked. He also revived the debunked 2024 rumor about Vice President JD Vance and a couch.
“The Democrats took so many seats, J.D. Vance can’t even find one to have sex with him,” Kimmel quipped.
The host imagined Trump watching Fox News and “trying to give himself an insurrection.” He joked that Trump had exhausted his dipping sauce containers by throwing them at the television. “Man, oh man, would I hate to be the DoorDash driver who delivers Trump his Papa John’s tonight?”
Kimmel called the results a “blue tsunami.” He declared, “Democrats have officially taken the House thanks to President Trump.” He added, “Blob Vila flipped another house. The blue wave made landfall, and now, the red wedding begins.” The punchline referenced the $5,000 promise.
Kimmel argued that Trump’s priorities ignored voters’ concerns. He contrasted inflation, war, health care, and housing with MAGA issues, including transgender topics and Lupita Nyong’o’s casting in The Odyssey. He celebrated Mike Johnson’s expected departure. “I wish they made him leave tonight,” Kimmel said. He wanted Johnson to “pack up his stuff and ride away on his Big Wheel tonight.”
The Pod Save America hosts also joined Kimmel. Jon Favreau called the result the “beginning of the end of the Trump era.” Kimmel warned that Trump might “get even crazier” during his final two years and would not “go away gently.” Most of Kimmel’s late-night rivals aired no new episodes that night.
