Princess Eugenie‘s daughter has changed the order of succession to the British throne when they welcomed her on Aug. 3. Even though the baby girl was born outside the U.K., she still officially qualifies for a place in the line of royal succession. The change may seem minor, but it has shifted several royals down by one position in the line.

According to People, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s youngest child now occupies the 15th spot in the line of succession. Her addition has shifted every royal previously behind her down by one position. Princess Eugenie holds the 12th position in the line, followed by her three children in the order of their birth.
As a result, Prince Edward, the youngest son of the late Queen Elizabeth II, has moved to the 16th position. His children, Princess Anne, along with Anne’s children and grandchildren, and everyone following them in the succession order have also each moved down one place.
The succession is currently led by King Charles III, with Prince William as his heir. William is followed by his three children, namely Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Prince Harry occupies the fifth spot, followed by his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Despite being stripped of his royal titles and military honors last year, Prince Andrew remains eighth in the line of succession. Princess Beatrice, who is Princess Eugenie’s older sister, and her daughters are also ahead of Eugenie in the succession order.
Princess Eugenie’s children are not working royals and do not have royal titles. However, each of them is automatically included in the line of succession. The birth of her youngest child is the latest update to the official order, illustrating how every new royal birth reshapes the succession list.
