A photographer has highlighted the differences between Prince William and Prince Harry. For those unaware, the future king has seemingly disliked paparazzi culture ever since the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, in 1997.
Notably, he was protective of Kate Middleton when the couple was still dating. However, according to a royal photographer, William’s relationship with the media has changed since he became the Prince of Wales, and he has been preparing to become the king of the British monarchy in the future.
Royal photographer compares the brothers’ childhood reactions to the media
Royal photographer Arthur Edwards discussed Prince Harry and Prince William’s contrasting attitudes towards the media in his new memoir, “Cup of Tea, Arthur? My Extraordinary 50 Years Photographing the Royal Family.” He revealed to The Telegraph that William has developed a more open-minded attitude towards the media since his media-shy days with Kate Middleton.
Edwards pointed out that William is preparing well for his future role as king and has realized the importance of developing a relationship with the media. The royal photographer remarked: “Since he’s become the Prince of Wales, he’s become very much an established diplomat. He’s a great ambassador for the country now, and he’s grasped that brilliantly.”
Edwards recalled the young Prince of Wales hating photographers as a child and said he never thought there would be a change in his attitude. However, his younger brother, Harry, “used to love it.” Edwards remembered how the Duke of Sussex would stick out his tongue at photographers in a playful gesture.
Not only that, William has reportedly learnt to use the media to his own benefit and set the narrative he wants the world to see. The Prince of Wales will go to Mumbai, India, for the Earthshot Prize event to be held on November 17. In the run-up to the event, William engaged in a game of cricket with legends of the game outside Buckingham Palace (via The Royal Observer).
