A newly revealed report has shed light on a security warning involving Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle. According to reports, the Metropolitan Police received a letter in 2019 claiming he could pose a potential risk to Meghan and Prince Harry. The document reportedly came from Thomas’s former wife, Roslyn Markle, and urged authorities to consider the information during security assessments.

Thomas Markle’s ex-wife reportedly warned Met that he posed a threat to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

According to The Telegraph, Roslyn Markle sent the letter to the Metropolitan Police’s Fixed Threat Assessment Centre (FTAC). The unit is responsible for assessing threats against members of the Royal Family and other protected public figures.

In the letter, Roslyn reportedly claimed Thomas Markle represented a “high risk” to Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. She said she believed it was important for UK security officials to know what she described as his “true and unsavoury background.” Roslyn was married to Thomas from 1964 to 1975.

The report also states the letter included allegations accusing Thomas of child sexual offences. It was reported that the Metropolitan Police is now assessing whether to refer itself to the police watchdog over how it handled the correspondence. The force previously acknowledged it did not pass the allegations to overseas authorities.

Thomas has denied the allegations. He has said he has never had sexual contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Authorities in the Philippines are reportedly continuing to investigate separate allegations involving Thomas. According to previous reports, investigators are examining alleged child sexual abuse material linked to a laptop as part of that inquiry. Officials have stressed that forensic examinations remain ongoing. Meanwhile, the FBI has said it is aware of the allegations and will support Philippine authorities where appropriate.

Neither Meghan nor Prince Harry has publicly commented on the latest report.
