Apple Music announced that Jay-Z will headline the NFL’s Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. Super Bowl LXI is set for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Earlier, some outlets reported that the rapper was in the running for the performance fans look forward to eagerly every year. However, this announcement has drawn criticism from many.

NFL announces Jay-Z is headlining Super Bowl Halftime

During halftime of the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game on October 26, the NFL revealed that Jay-Z will be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Since 2019, the Grammy winner and his entertainment company, Roc Nation, have helped produce and select performers for the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Apple Music announced the news with a short black-and-white clip of Jay-Z sitting in the stadium surrounded by goats while he petted one. The caption read, “GOAT’s out of the bag.” The company also tagged Jay-Z in the announcement.

This announcement faced some criticism. One person wrote, “The least viewed Super Bowl of all time is coming,” while another said, “Perfect time to use the bathroom and eat.” A third person commented, “I promise all 5 Jay-Z fans are really excited for this.” A fourth one slammed the NFL, writing, “When is the NFL going to get away from the rap crap and start having actual entertainment for halftime?”

Others are excited to see the “Takeover” rapper take the Super Bowl Halftime stage. One fan commented, “THE KING OF RAP!!! THE KING OF NEW YORK!!!” Another wrote, “A Jay-Z halftime show was always gonna happen one way or another. Can’t wait to see what happens!”

Addressing the announcement in a statement (via Fox News), Jay-Z said, “From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.” He wrapped up his Jay-Z 30 Tour with back-to-back shows at SoFi Stadium last weekend, so he is familiar with the venue.
