Prince Harry reportedly knew about Earl Spencer’s recently revealed remarks about King Charles. A publication released the first preview of Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, a memoir penned by Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. As per the preview, King Charles and the Earl exchanged heated words during an explosive phone call, which resulted in the King making some controversial comments about his late wife. The book will be released on September 22 and, as per a royal expert, Harry might have known about his uncle’s remarks about his father.
Why Earl Spencer’s comments involving King Charles have drawn attention to Prince Harry
According to ITV’s Royal Editor, Chris Ship, Prince Harry was likely aware of Earl Spencer’s cutting words for King Charles. The Daily Mail released the first preview of Earl Spencer’s new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. According to Spencer, the two men got into a heated argument over the phone regarding Diana’s funeral preparations.
Towards the end, as per Spencer, an incensed Charles said: “Rest assured, we’ll forget her soon enough!” Now, according to Ship, the Duke of Sussex “must have known” about his uncle’s “attack” on his father. Notably, as per Express UK, the Sussexes stayed with the Spencers during their trip to the UK in July.
The royal expert predicted that Harry might have been aware of the book’s contents before its official release. According to Ship, the younger prince had to have known about the media “war” between Spencer and Charles.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement remarking that it will not comment on books as a matter of principle. However, the King understands that such profound grief can “cloud reason, affect judgment and color memory” even after all these years.
According to a report by Rob Shuter, Spencer offered the Sussexes accommodation when they decided to move back to the UK. A source told Shuter that Spencer offered the couple the possibility of using The Falconry, the iconic 17th-century lodge on the family’s Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire. The source further claimed that Harry was genuinely touched because Althorp will always be a “sacred” ground for him and that Meghan rejected the offer because it was not “grand” enough and too far from London.
