Prince Harry’s Invictus Problem Shows He Can’t Fully Escape The Royals — Expert

Prince Harry’s recent Invictus Games controversy has seemingly highlighted that his charitable work remains connected to King Charles and the British monarchy. This came after Uganda initially withdrew from the Invictus Games, with the country’s military chief saying they did not want to act against the King. However, Uganda reversed its decision a few days later. This came after Charles’ principal private secretary spoke with Uganda’s military chief and clarified that the King had no issue with Uganda participating in the games.

A PR expert has explained how Prince Harry’s recent Invictus Games issue reportedly shows that his charitable work is still associated with King Charles (via The Mirror).

The Duke of Sussex founded the Invictus Games in 2014. The noble initiative to honor sick, injured, and wounded soldiers is Harry’s main charitable endeavor.

Harry was going all out to promote the next edition of the Games, which will take place in Birmingham next year. He had even visited the UK in July this year to participate in a series of royal engagements and seemed to have everything under his control.

However, the Invictus Games landed in major controversy when Uganda pulled out. The African country stated that it would “not participate in anything” without Charles’ “approval.” In a scathing criticism, they pinned the blame on “Harry and Meghan’s nonsense.”

PR expert Mayah Riaz explained that no matter how much Harry desires a separate identity, the public will always link his work to the King and the British monarchy. Riaz explained that Charles personally stepping in to defuse the Uganda-Invictus controversy proves that, ultimately, Harry needs the British monarchy’s stamp of approval.

“Harry has spent years building Invictus as something independent and centred on veterans, but this episode has demonstrated that royal politics can still have a very real impact on the organisation,” the PR expert stated.

Another royal expert, Jennie Bond, chimed in and predicted that the Duke of Sussex must be furious upon learning that the King had personally intervened to defuse tensions.
