According to a royal historian, Prince William may not be able to avoid a question involving Prince Harry. The Sussexes returned to the UK on August 26 and are reportedly planning to remain in the country for an extended period. It has long been speculated that the brothers have had little to no contact since Harry and Meghan relocated to California in January 2020.
Their relationship became even more strained following the Sussexes’ interview with Oprah Winfrey, while Harry’s 2023 memoir, “Spare,” further deepened the rift between the brothers.
Royal historian says Prince William can’t escape one Prince Harry question
According to royal historian Amanda Foreman, Prince William may never escape questions about a possible reconciliation with Prince Harry. Foreman told PEOPLE that the constant questions could become “incredibly draining” for the future king.
She added: “They will always have to look over their shoulders and factor them in. And all they can do is deflect. Yet, they’ll get lots of jabs and questions: ‘When are you going to make up with your brother?’”
Notably, Harry and Meghan met King Charles and Queen Camilla at the monarch’s private residence, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, on July 10. However, the Waleses have continued to keep their distance from any potential reunion with the Sussexes.
As the Duke of Sussex celebrated his 42nd birthday, which was also his first in the UK in several years, William remained focused on his royal duties. The Prince of Wales visited Princetown, near Devon, where he engaged with members of the local community, according to The Royal Observer.
However, PEOPLE reported that Charles and William appear to share a position on keeping the Sussexes away from royal palace duties. Royal author Russell Myers claimed that both the King and the future king agree that Harry and Meghan do not represent the Royal Family.
Meanwhile, according to Rob Shuter, Charles issued a public letter clarifying Harry and Meghan’s royal status at William’s request. A source claimed that the Prince of Wales had had “enough of the confusion” and wanted to set the record straight. “William’s answer was brutally simple: nothing has changed. They are out,” the source added.
