Prince Harry’s Rift With Prince William Has Turned Into a ‘Very, Very Cold War’ — Source

A royal expert claims that there has been no positive development in Prince William and Harry’s relationship since the latter’s return to the UK. Another source claims that the problems that caused their falling out are still very serious. This news also comes amid reports of their rift deepening in the wake of Prince Harry’s rumored Diana movie.

Sources say Prince Harry and Prince William’s rift is far from healing

Royal historian Amanda Foreman shared an update with PEOPLE about where Prince Harry and William’s rift currently stands. She said, “At the moment, it has gone from being a hot war to a very, very cold war. But in a cold war situation, you still have to turn up to the Olympics.” A source close to the Waleses reflected that the tensions stemming from their estrangement remain unresolved. “It was very hard on them, and I wouldn’t blame William for being cautious,” he elaborated.

Earlier, a source told Us Weekly that Prince William doubted the Sussexes’ return would prevent family tensions from reigniting. They said, “There was cautious optimism that perhaps they would arrive in silent dignity and not stir up drama, but William was much less optimistic than the king and was proven right because right now he’s having an ‘I told you so’ moment.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have pushed back against language in a Buckingham Palace guidance letter describing their position as akin to that of private citizens. The letter, issued at King Charles’ direction, reaffirmed that the Sussexes are non-working members of the royal family and that their charitable work is undertaken in a private capacity.

“Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used. The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests,” it read. It’s understood that the couple particularly took issue with the term “private,” as they preferred being referred to as public figures.
