Megyn Kelly, the journalist and political commentator known for her podcast The Megyn Kelly Show, recently criticized the increasingly public life of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 13-year-old daughter, North West. She has some strong concerns about how the teenager is being raised in the spotlight.
Megyn Kelly criticizes Kim and Kanye over North West’s increasingly public image
North West, the eldest child of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, was born on June 15, 2013. She is now 13 and has grown up in the public eye as the daughter of two major pop-culture figures.
However, her growing presence in entertainment has now raised concerns from Megyn Kelly. During Tuesday’s episode of The Megyn Kelly Show, Kelly and Dr. Drew criticized Kim and Kanye for allowing North to become such a public figure at a young age. Kelly pointed to North’s recent appearance on the cover of Dazed Magazine, where the photos of the teenager appeared with false teeth, blue hair and facial piercings. She also highlighted North’s plans to release a rap album and perform onstage.
According to Kelly, Kim and Kanye are “rushing” to make North a star. She believes they may not be fully considering the possible downsides of growing up in the spotlight.
Dr. Drew agreed with Kelly’s concerns. He referred to bipolar disorder in North’s family history, apparently pointing to Kanye. Though he did not show any evidence, he also claimed that Kim and Kanye are parents “who have not been available” and “don’t look like they’re around all the time.”
He further argued that putting North in the public eye at such a young age could have serious consequences. He compared the situation to a “guillotine.”
At the same time, North’s relationship with her mother has been publicly shown in affectionate moments. However, North has also spoken about her parents setting certain boundaries for her. In a recent interview, she said she was not allowed to get a bridge piercing, showing that her parents do maintain some limits despite her public image.
Kim and Kanye have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. North is their first child.
However, there’s no response from the representatives of Kim and Kanye to the criticism yet.
