Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly had polar opposite reactions to their recent reunion with King Charles. The King and Queen hosted the Sussexes and their children at the monarch’s private residence, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, on July 10.

Harry reportedly took it as an opportunity to repair relations and rebuild trust with his father. Not only that, he wanted the aging monarch to spend time with his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet. However, Markle is said to have left feeling deeply hurt and like an outsider.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly had very different outlooks on their recent private reunion with King Charles. The behind-closed-doors meeting, which was also attended by Queen Camilla, reportedly followed a strict set of rules.

According to sources, the Duchess of Sussex felt “humiliated” by the restrictions placed on the couple and came away believing they had been treated like “outsiders.”

An insider close to the Sussexes said, “From Meghan’s perspective, the whole thing felt more like a managed operation than a warm family get-together.” The palace made it clear that there would be no phones, social media posts, cameras, or drama (via Radar Online).

The source explained that while Markle understood that it was necessary, she wasn’t comfortable with the “timetable”-like structure. The Duchess had previously led an independent life as an actress and wasn’t used to these kinds of restrictions.

The insider dished, “Returning to an environment where every image and public-facing detail was subject to scrutiny felt like a step backwards rather than a family visit. To her, it created the impression that they were being handled as a public relations issue instead of being welcomed simply as Harry and Meghan.”

Prince Harry, on the other hand, took this as an opportunity to extend an olive branch to his estranged family.

As per insiders, “Harry genuinely wanted the trip to be about repairing relationships. His focus was on looking ahead, rebuilding trust, and giving his father the opportunity to spend meaningful time with his grandchildren. Meghan, however, came away with a very different impression.”
