Lollapalooza 2013 VIDEO: Cary Nokey Talks EDM, European Domination in Chicago

They’re a high-energy fusion of breakneck dance beats and funk hooks — all with a heaping dallop of 80’s synth-pop slapped right on top.

Now, Carey Nokey founder 8-Bit is a busy guy these days.  Nokey — 8-Bit’s collaboration with fellow New Yorker and vocal oddity Ali N-Da-City — are out garnering attention to their new partnership, which means not only a Lollapalooza set, but several aftershows and other performances around the city during festival weekend.

We sat down with 8-Bit at the Bed Head Retreat at the Public Hotel Chicago and found out more about Nokey’s influences (including another Lollapalooza act, The Cure), where the EDM scene stands today and his plans for making Carey Nokey the biggest damn thing going in Scandanavia.

You can check out everything he had to saw above — and a big shout out to our friends at ElevatorMag for their assistance throughout Lollapalooza weekend.

The event was also sponsored by ICING Jewelry, along with Belvedere Vodka and Peroni, who hooked up free drinks for the artists and guests.
