Seafood boils are delicious. We don’t really know the specifics about what should be in them and how exactly they’re made. Luckily, this isn’t information that we need on a daily basis. We can make grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, and literally anything else with melted cheese, but we just don’t know a ton about prepping crab, crawfish, and other types of seafood. We do know one thing, though: there isn’t supposed to be Sunny Delight anywhere in the recipe, unless it’s as a refreshing, citrusy beverage on the side.

That’s why we’re not surprised that social media is aghast at a viral seafood boil that features the childhood citrus drink. It was created by “boil master” @chefjayvoo who uses the orange drink as the base for his “platinum juice” boil.

For those who didn’t get to enjoy their childhood as much as we did, Sunny Delight (also known lovingly as SunnyD) is a citrus-based mystery punch that belongs in a cup alongside a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a pile of potato chips. Not in a seafood boil that also features bell peppers, various other vegetables, garlic, special seasonings, and Louisiana shrimp.

The reason people have so much trouble with the chef’s use of SunnyD is that the childhood beverage is mostly made up of corn syrup with very little actual juice. Instead, most commenters opt for water or at the very least orange juice. Either way, if you were looking for our thoughts, we’ll just review the video with one word: yuck.
