75% of Men Would Turn Down First Date Sex, Survey Reveals

A survey consisting of over 2,000 participants found that 75% of men would turn down sex on the first date.

The poll, conducted by sex toy company LoveHoney, revealed that three quarters of men would reject first-date sex, while a quarter would be uncomfortable with kissing on the first date.

On the other hand, just 15% of women said that they would sleep with someone on their first date, with 72% being comfortable with the idea of engaging in a first-date kiss.

In terms of romance, the men who were surveyed were found to be more willing to tell their prospective partners that they loved them within a month of dating. 25% of men said that they’d drop the “L word” within the first month, compared to 16% of women. The majority of women stated that they would wait until four months of dating until they told a partner that they loved them. 75% of men also said that they would be more comfortable saying “I love you” to their partners first, compared to 25% of women.

Men were found to be more likely to say the “L word” before their partners.

Men were also revealed to be more keen to introduce their partners to their parents, with the majority claiming that they’d arrange the uncomfortable meeting around the eighth date, while only 27% of women would do the same thing. The men also revealed themselves to be more likely to change their Facebook relationship status, with 30% of men changing their profile to read “In a Relationship” after eight dates, while only 27% of women would do the same thing.

Speaking about the results, LoveHoney’s co-founder Richard Longhurst said: “[Men] are keener to tell their partner they love them but also to outwardly recognise this commitment by changing their Facebook status and introducing their loved one to their parents.

“Women are a little more wary, preferring to take their time before revealing similar levels of commitment.”

He continued: “[Men] are prepared to be far more open about their feelings and tell their partner their true feelings. That has to be good thing.”
