Gamescom 2014: Quantum Break Gets an 8-Minute Gameplay Demo

Quantum Break has been shown off for the first time in nearly a year, and it looks just as great as we were hoping.

As seen in the new 8-minute gameplay trailer above, Quantum Break plays very similarly to Alan Wake (another Remedy game), with its third-person shooter qualities being at the forefront of gameplay. However, replacing the light mechanic are two things: cover and time control. Cover is an important element because the game’s protagonist is under-equipped compared to the armored foes he has to take down. Time control similarly give him an edge, allowing him to move incredible distances in mere fractions of a second. With it, powerful takedowns are possible, and they’re as flashy as you’d hope.

It’s also got some outstanding graphics. It appears that Quantum Break will run at 1080p with 30 FPS with gorgeous visuals. Remedy Entertainment has managed to find a way to showcase the Xbox One hardware very well.

Quantum Break is going to be a big cinematic experience. Check out the gameplay footage above and let us know what you think.
