The White House has responded to Rosie O’Donnell after her latest attacks on Donald Trump during Jimmy Kimmel Live! The comedian ended her temporary hosting stint with a song aimed at the president.
White House representative Davis Ingle shared a statement with Entertainment Weekly following O’Donnell’s final broadcast. It said, “Rosie O’Donnell is a nasty woman and a total slob whose brain has been completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.” O’Donnell’s representative refused to comment on the response.
During Thursday’s show, O’Donnell embraced the “nasty woman” label. She introduced herself as “nasty Rosie O’Donnell” before calling Trump “orange Voldemort.” She then performed a parody of “Danny Boy” that mocked the president’s polling numbers, appearance and handling of Iran. The performance ended with O’Donnell urging the U.S. President to resign.
What did Rosie O’Donnell initially say about Donald Trump on Jimmy Kimmel Live?
O’Donnell began her guest-hosting run on August 17. Her opening monologue immediately addressed Trump and his history of criticizing Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She said, “If you thought the president hated ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ when it was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel? Buckle up, people! Buckle up.”
She later called Trump “Mango Mussolini” and suggested that he was watching her appearances. O’Donnell also joked about the attention Trump’s criticism had brought her.
Her comments came during a week when she filled in for Jimmy Kimmel. The temporary role marked her return to a late-night television hosting desk.
O’Donnell and Donald Trump have publicly clashed for nearly two decades. Their feud dates back to her 2006-2007 run on The View, when she criticized Trump over his treatment of beauty pageant contestant Tara Conner.
Trump later continued attacking O’Donnell during his 2016 presidential campaign. Their exchanges have remained a recurring part of their public relationship.
O’Donnell’s guest-hosting appearance gave her another television platform to address Trump. Her final song put their long-running feud back in the spotlight.
