Meghan Markle’s UK Return Had One Rule About the Royals — Author

Meghan Markle had reportedly agreed to return to the UK with Prince Harry on one condition involving the royals. The claim, which dates back to August 2024, is reportedly resurfacing amid reports of the Sussexes’ continued tensions with the Royal Family.

What a royal author said about the Duchess’s UK visits

Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s unexpected return to the UK in August, attention quickly shifted to their living arrangements. Where the Duchess might stay during UK trips became a key talking point.

According to a royal expert, their decision to opt for a private home with no ties to the monarchy could be linked to a “major condition” Markle reportedly set for visiting Britain. Speaking to The Mirror in August 2024, royal author and commentator Tom Quinn said, “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband‘s relatives.”

Prior to their current Cotswolds residence, the Sussex pair lived at Frogmore Cottage between 2019 and 2020. They kept the property until the palace asked them to vacate in 2023. Quinn told the outlet at the time that Harry saw it as a “slap in the face.”

The expert had previously claimed, “Harry was absolutely furious and in tears about being evicted from Frogmore. He felt his father had no right to do it and that it was purely vindictive. Harry couldn’t see that choosing to stop being a working royal would inevitably mean being deprived of his royal residence. Harry took it as a cruel rejection.”

Hence, Markle reportedly insisted that any UK visits would happen strictly on their own terms, at least when it came to accommodation. Security was also a major consideration. After all, the couple lost their automatic, taxpayer-funded armed police protection after stepping back as working royals.
