MCU fans may get to see Ryan Gosling‘s Ghost Rider before his standalone movie, according to a new rumor. Shawn Levy will be directing the upcoming superhero movie.
A Marvel scooper on X, @blueminutes, recently claimed that Gosling’s Ghost Rider/Johnny Blaze will first appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. The character would then appear in his own standalone MCU movie. Another scooper, @MyTimeToShineHello, later appeared to back the claim with a brief response, writing, “True.”
Although both accounts have previously shared claims about Marvel projects, fans should still take the early reports with a grain of salt until Marvel provides an official update.
Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider is rumored to have a very different life in the MCU
The latest rumor also suggests that Gosling’s Johnny Blaze leads a perfect life to begin with. He reportedly has a wife and two children, works at an auto repair shop, and lives in a small town where he is well-liked.
However, strange nightmares about monsters begin to haunt him. The rumor describes him seeing his life “like a prison. And there’s a spirit in him that’s begging to break out.” While the plot seems captivating, these details remain unverified.
The movie is also surrounded by several other rumors ahead of its release. Earlier reports speculated that the movie’s main villains could include Mephisto, Lilith, or Blackheart. However, Marvel has not announced any other cast members beyond Gosling.
The acclaimed actor was officially announced as Ghost Rider earlier this year at San Diego Comic-Con. The Canadian actor surprised fans by appearing onstage during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation. Kevin Feige later revealed that Gosling was the driving force behind the project. Jonathan Tropper is set to write the screenplay.
Marvel Studios’ Ghost Rider movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28, 2028.
