King Charles reportedly will not publicly come out in support of Meghan Markle amid her ongoing family crisis involving her dad. Meghan is still adjusting to her return to the UK. Amid this, the recent controversy surrounding her father, Thomas Markle Sr., has reportedly left her distressed. Her father was reportedly turned in by her half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., over allegations of possessing child sexual abuse images. Thomas Markle Sr. has denied the allegations, and the case is ongoing. The controversy has once again thrust the royal family into the spotlight.
Experts believe King Charles’ support for Meghan Markle will only stay ‘private’
According to royal experts, King Charles’s support for Meghan Markle amid the controversy surrounding her dad would likely remain “private.” The controversy reportedly began after Thomas Markle Jr. reportedly discovered questionable materials belonging to his father while clearing out his former home in Cebu. Thomas Markle Snr. has reportedly denied all the allegations against him, saying that he is “shocked and hurt.”
Meghan stated to Fox News Digital, expressing that she is “deeply distressed.” In her statement, Markle also explained that she had deliberately kept her father away from her children because she believed it was necessary for their safety. The statement further read, “My sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
The Duchess has long been estranged from her father. In fact, her half-brother recently apologized to Meghan. He acknowledged that he now understands why she chose to distance herself from their father.
Amid the controversy, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said the situation places Charles in a difficult position. She suggested that the palace would be reluctant to involve itself in the matter. However, she believes Charles would want to stand by Prince Harry and offer him emotional support as a father. After all, Charles was the one who walked Meghan down the aisle.
Harry has repeatedly spoken publicly about events behind palace walls. This has contributed to tensions between him and other members of the royal family. Schofield added, “The king would be reluctant to have a sensitive conversation on this topic with Prince Harry without reassurance that it would remain private.”
