Betty Gilpin says she’d love to return in Widow’s Bay Season 2
Betty Gilpin has said she would like to return to Widow’s Bay for its potential second season.
During an interview with Deadline, Gilpin was asked whether viewers would see her again. The actress replied that she had not been told whether she would be returning. “I don’t know, I don’t know. I hope so. I’d love to. I am available,” she said.
Gilpin also explained that her character’s disappearance could create a problem for any potential return. “I just disappeared. I don’t know,” she said. Gilpin then reiterated her interest in returning, adding, “Yes, so, I’d love to go back.”
The actress had already been trying to find a way back into Widow’s Bay. After receiving an Emmy for guest actress in a comedy series earlier this year, Gilpin said she had been contacting the creator, Katie Dippold, with suggestions on how her character could return without contradicting the show’s established story.
“I’m forever pitching Katie Dippold via text (on) ways in which it would make sense in the world of the show for me to come back. I feel like by her genius, demented ‘Widow’s Bay’ lore math, it doesn’t make sense for her to come back, but … c’mon just change it so I can come back,” the actress noted.
As of now, Gilpin has not been confirmed for Widow’s Bay Season 2. Her comments to Deadline and her earlier remarks after the Emmys both indicate that she wants to reprise the role.
