Street Fighter’s Breakout Star Delivers Exciting Dead by Daylight Movie Casting News

A Street Fighter star wants a role in Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s upcoming Dead by Daylight movie. Callina Liang, who plays Chun-Li in Kitao Sakurai’s recent film, is already a longtime fan of the horror game.

Speaking with Variety, Liang said, “Someone on the creative team DM’d me and was like, ‘Look at what we’re doing; we’re playing the game in the office for research.’ I’m like, ‘Guys, just call me. I can tell you everything you need to know about this game. You don’t have to play it to find out.'”

Liang also revealed having spent over 100 hours in the last two months playing Dead by Daylight. Although she described the game as “scary and gory,” the actress found it “funny” considering everyone chases her during the play.

What we know about Blumhouse’s Dead by Daylight movie

Blumhouse and Atomic Monster have teamed up with Behaviour Interactive to produce the Dead by Daylight movie. Thordur Palsson will be directing the video game adaptation. The director is known for directing the Netflix series The Valhalla Murders and the film The Damned. No cast list has been announced yet.

David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Alexandre Aja wrote the screenplay. Behaviour Interactive Chief Product Officer Stephen Mulrooney discussed what the filmmakers hope to achieve with the adaptation.

He said, “The film will take fans to some of the most iconic places in our world. Places like the MacMillan Estate and Greenville. And you can look forward to seeing some of your favorite faces in the fog. Recent fan favorites and original characters that started it all.”

Filming is expected to begin in 2027, and the movie is currently expected to arrive toward the end of that year. An exact release date has not been announced.
