King Charles is reportedly uneasy about Prince Harry’s growing closeness with Charles Spencer following the release of the Earl’s controversial Diana memoir. Harry has reportedly remained close to his maternal uncle since returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children, raising fresh questions about the family divide.
King Charles is ‘bracing for the worst’ with Prince Harry and Charles Spencer’s alliance, per source
The concerns come after the release of Spencer’s “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” which arrived just a day after Harry made a long-awaited public appearance for one of his charitable commitments. The memoir includes several claims about Harry’s father, King Charles, including an account of an alleged conversation between Charles and Spencer following Princess Diana’s death. According to Spencer’s account, Charles allegedly told him that they would “forget her soon enough” while Spencer was grieving his sister.
Despite the controversy surrounding the memoir, Spencer has said Harry knew about the book before it reached the public. In an interview with People, the Earl explained that he informed his sisters, William and Harry, at the same time. He later made clear that Harry had no apparent issue with the book. “I can say that Harry is completely fine about it,” Spencer said. He also acknowledged that both Harry and William may have wondered how he would portray their father in the memoir.
The reported closeness between Harry and Spencer has allegedly caused concern within royal circles, particularly because of the longstanding tensions surrounding Diana’s family. The source told Woman’s Day that King Charles and Prince William feel “very uncomfortable” about Harry’s relationship with the Spencers, especially following the claims made in Spencer’s memoir. “There’s so much bad blood with Diana’s side of the family, of course it feels like Harry is siding with the enemy,” the insider alleged. “Who knows what they’re planning together, but the King is bracing for the worst,” the source said.
