King Charles’ Phone Call With Prince Harry Turned ‘Heated’ Over One Major Reason — Source

King Charles and Prince Harry reportedly had a “heated” phone call after the King publicly confirmed that Harry is no longer a working royal. The father and son had reportedly been speaking regularly since Harry returned to the UK, but a source claims the Palace letter and the Sussexes’ reaction quickly strained their relationship.

Prince Harry’s return to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children initially sparked speculation that he had little contact with his father. However, Woman’s Day reports that Harry and King Charles had quietly remained in touch by phone, despite not meeting in person.

“Their phone calls had been on a weekly basis,” the source said. “Harry and Charles were in direct contact when they first arrived in the UK, but not anymore,” the insider claimed, adding that their last conversation became “somewhat heated.”

The source further claimed that Charles does not plan to speak directly with Harry again until “cooler heads prevail.” The reported rift comes shortly after Harry returned to the UK following six years of living in California with Meghan and their family. At the center of the dispute is a letter Charles reportedly sent to government and military officials to clarify the Sussexes’ status following their return.

The letter confirmed that Harry and Meghan remain outside the working monarchy and clarified that they cannot use the titles “His Royal Highness” and “Her Royal Highness,” despite having returned to Britain. Its timing reportedly caught the Sussexes off guard, with their representatives saying the couple were “a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”

Royal insiders also claimed that Harry and Meghan took issue with some of the language used in the letter. The couple reportedly felt “frustrated” by the decision to describe them as “private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
