Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly returned to the UK with their children, but the couple is yet to make a public appearance that would confirm their relocation. Earlier, it was reported that the Sussexes would attend a Diana Award event this month. However, a spokesperson for the couple has disputed that claim.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not attend the Diana award event
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals. Six years later, they returned to the UK last month. They reportedly moved into a Cotswolds residence with their kids, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie. Although they touched down at Birmingham Airport on August 26, they are yet to confirm that they are back in Britain.
The Mail reported that the Duke of Sussex will attend a gala dinner on September 18, promoting the Diana Award. However, sources close to the couple have denied any such appearance at the event at Raffles London at The OWO, a hotel located in the Old War Office in Whitehall.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes told the Daily Express, “Despite the Daily Mail’s reporting to the contrary, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not scheduled to attend a Diana Award event at Raffles Hotel, OWO London, on September 18. Facts matter. Accuracy matters. Apparently, neither made the guest list for this particular story.”
Meanwhile, an insider claimed that the younger son of King Charles III is considering writing a letter or appearing in a video message instead of physically appearing there. Both Harry and his elder brother, Prince William, are patrons of the award. However, they have not made an appearance together at the awards ceremony in years. In 2024, the Prince of Wales gave a short speech and presented the award to the winner. After William’s departure, Prince Harry video-called the winners.
