Meghan Markle allegedly ended a prospective royal staffer’s job interview with three blunt words before she left the Royal Family in 2020. Sarah Vine later recounted the encounter, which reportedly took place behind palace doors and ended before the nervous applicant could complete a traditional interview.
Meghan Markle reportedly brutally dismissed woman interviewing for position within royal household
According to an account shared by Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine, a woman who was in her early 20s arrived at the palace for a meeting about a potential position within the royal household. Vine claimed Meghan Markle was sitting at her desk and looking through paperwork when the prospective employee entered the room.
Markle allegedly looked up and briefly studied the woman before returning her attention to the documents in front of her. The meeting then reportedly ended almost as quickly as it began. Vine quoted Markle as saying, “You can leave.” According to Vine’s account, the Duchess’ three words abruptly ended the encounter, and the applicant allegedly left before they could discuss the position properly.
However, Vine’s account does not explain why the “Suits” alum ended the meeting so quickly. The alleged incident took place before Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from their roles as senior working royals in 2020. The couple later spoke publicly about their experiences within the Royal Family. In March 2021, they sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a highly publicized interview and discussed their lives inside the institution.
Despite years of criticism and family tension, the Sussexes now face renewed speculation about reconciliation. Harry has repeatedly said he wants to repair his relationships with his family, while his recent UK trips have fueled hopes that the rift could ease. He recently returned to the UK to mark one year until the Invictus Games. Markle later joined him with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
