Meghan Markle Risks ‘Reopening Old Wounds’ With Telling Remark — Source

Meghan Markle’s remarks about Prince Harry’s “hard days” reportedly sparked concern just as the Sussexes’ relationship with the royal family appeared to be improving. During a July screening in Los Angeles, the Duchess of Sussex shared Harry’s advice about weathering storms and appreciating the sunshine.

Although Meghan did not directly mention the royals, a palace source claimed that the timing of her comments risked reopening old wounds. The remarks came shortly after the Sussexes’ Highgrove reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla, making even an otherwise uplifting message a sensitive subject within the royal family.

As per an OK! Magazine report, Meghan Markle spoke at a July screening of “Cookie Queens,” a documentary centered on the Girl Scouts. Meghan and Prince Harry served as executive producers on the project.

During the event, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly shared advice her husband had given her about navigating difficult periods. A source described the anecdote as “a positive story” on its face, adding there was “no direct reference to the royals whatsoever.”

Meanwhile, the palace source reportedly said the wording carried added risk because of the Sussexes’ past claims about the royal family. The outlet linked that history to the couple’s interviews with Oprah Winfrey, the Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” and Harry’s memoir “Spare.”

According to the insider, phrases such as “hard days” could carry “additional baggage” because of what Meghan and Harry had previously said about the royals. The source warned that people could try to interpret which period Meghan was referring to, potentially bringing “old arguments” back “precisely” when relations appeared to be improving behind the scenes.

However, Meghan’s full remarks were presented as advice she had received from Prince Harry. She described life as “full of surprises” before recalling Harry’s time serving in the British Army. The Duchess of Sussex noted that he had been a helicopter pilot for 10 years before recalling his advice: “Hey, but my love,” followed by his thoughts on weathering difficult moments.

Meghan explained that even when “a storm” is taking place, “the sun’s always shining” above it. Still, the source stressed that no one wanted an “innocent remark” to spark fresh tension, particularly after the family had endured an “incredibly difficult period.” For Markle and Harry, the advice became a soft comment with harder royal timing.
