Iran’s state media has seized on new details about a covert aircraft swap involving Donald Trump, transforming the security maneuver into a running joke about presidential fear. The meme is about the US president hiding inside a catering truck to avoid a perceived Iranian threat.

A presenter on Iranian state television said the incident had become a source of “humiliation” for Donald Trump. “Again, Trump, with his new scandal, has become the top subject in the U.S. media these days,” the presenter said. “A scandal stemming from fear of Iran’s military power, a power that caused Trump, last month, while returning from Turkey, to secretly switch his plane” (via Reuters).
On July 8, Secret Service officials received a credible threat reportedly from Israel that someone could target Air Force One with a shoulder-fired missile. Agents moved Trump and a small team into a catering truck, then transferred them to a smaller C-32A jet. Air Force One took off separately with senior staff aboard.
Iran’s embassy in South Africa joined the ridicule on X, writing that Trump “will be hidden in a trash can before long.” The post featured a meme of Trump inside a food-filled catering box. The account regularly shares viral content picked up by Iranian state media. Further, it continued to post more memes on Trump’s transfer. Another one was posted with the caption, “Brave American hero, or a coward hiding in a catering truck?”
The online taunts match billboards across Tehran showing Trump in coffins or drowning at sea. Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has also pledged vengeance for his father’s death during the ongoing conflict.
The New York Times reported that American officials discovered Iranian operatives knew Trump’s exact hotel floor in Ankara. Tehran and the White House have not officially commented on the aircraft switch. Diplomatic efforts remain frozen on the Strait of Hormuz and the Iran war in general.
