A man who accompanied his friend to a hospital in China found himself in an embarrassing predicament after dozing off in a waiting-room chair. Exhausted, he had slumped into an awkward position in the chair. He woke up to find himself wedged tightly between the chair’s backrest and armrest, completely stuck.
An Instagram video from NextShark shows his friend climbing into the hospital chair to demonstrate how to wriggle free. But the attempt backfired and he got stuck in the exact same spot. As a result, a quick fix quickly turned into a double rescue.
Hospital security was eventually called in. After several minutes of adjusting levers and loosening bolts, hospital staff had to partially dismantle the chair by removing two screws to free both men.
Reactions to the video poured in online, with viewers calling it equal parts painful and hilarious. “Me and my emergency contact in the same emergency,” wrote an Instagram user. “Why women live longer,” commented a follower.
