The rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner saw Donald Trump poke fun at a slew of politicians, including members from his own party such as RFK Jr. The POTUS tapped into a specifically controversial aspect of Robert F. Kennedy’s past for his comment, linking his infamous roadkill incidents to the dinner served at the event.

On July 24, Donald Trump dished out remarks against several WHCD attendees during his lengthy speech, specifically targeting the US Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The president fired shots at RFK Jr.’s earlier roadkill controversies, quipping that the cabinet minister had killed the cow served at the rescheduled WHCD himself. “I want you all to know that Bobby Kennedy, he’s right here, personally ran over the cow with his car,” Trump joked, as per People. “And he cut it up, and he brought it here for you to eat tonight. So it’s very fresh.”
RFK Jr., who was in the audience, responded by laughing as Donald Trump continued, “Bobby also suggested an appetizer featuring his favorite cut of male raccoon roadkill.” The president then turned his attention towards Kennedy’s wife, Cheryl Hines, stating, “We drew the line at that, Cheryl. We said, ‘No, we’re not doing that.’”
Donald Trump also described RFK Jr. as “a piece of work” as well as “a very different kind of a person,” before finally moving on.
Notably, Robert F. Kennedy has a long history of incidents with animals on the road. One time, the health minister drove around in his car with a severed whale head on its roof. Another incident saw Kennedy dump a dead bear in New York City’s Central Park. Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s quip about a raccoon directly referenced RFK Jr.’s run-in with a dead raccoon, where the latter cut off the animal’s genitals after discovering it on the side of the road.
