A fan recently asked Zendaya if she’ll marry him during a Spider-Man: Brand New Day red carpet event in Mexico. The actress gave a witty response, proudly indicating that she’s off the market. This comes after Holland earlier confirmed that he and Zendaya have been married, without disclosing many details on the date or their private ceremony.
What did Zendaya say to a fan’s marriage proposal?
As Zendaya walked the red carpet in Mexico for Spider-Man 4 and posed for photos, a fan shouted and made an open marriage proposal. The fan asked, “Will you marry me, please?” She responded, “You’re too late!” followed by an awkward smile and laugh as she headed towards the fans’ side to give autographs.
Before this, Holland had also shown a glimpse of possessiveness toward his wife during a Wired video interview with the Odyssey cast. At the time, a fan asked if Zendaya’s Athena loved Matt Damon’s Odysseus romantically. He immediately responded with a “no” before adding, “because she’s married to me.” His answer then received a good laugh from Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Damon.
The Uncharted actor has never shied away from publicly praising his wife Zendaya, not only for who she is as a person but also for her work ethic and accomplishments in her professional life. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he was asked what he had learned from Zendaya after collaborating with her on several projects.
He said, “To be confident and be bold. She makes big choices when she plays characters. She’s not afraid to create the characters and she does it on a way where they feel like real people. She makes big, bold choices. I think there are a few actors who can do it as well as she can, and I love watching her do it.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit the theaters on July 31, 2026.
