A new report has sparked fresh conversation about Sydney Sweeney’s potential future in the Star Wars universe. The claim hints at a major on-screen role, a possibility that is already spreading quickly among fans.
Sydney Sweeney rumored for a Jedi role in Star Wars
An X post sparked rumors by claiming that actress Sydney Sweeney is under consideration for a Jedi role in a future Star Wars project. Industry scooper MyTimeToShineHello published the message, and fans quickly noticed it. The studio has not made an official announcement.
On February 15, 2026, the account wrote, “Sydney Sweeney is being eyed by Lucasfilm to play a Jedi!” The post drew 59.9K views and prompted hundreds of replies on the platform. The claim arrived after months of online speculation about the performer joining the franchise.
Observers have circulated reports linking the actor to the galaxy as Lucasfilm develops several theatrical projects. These include a film featuring Rey and a New Republic story directed by Dave Filoni. The slate also features a new trilogy from Simon Kinberg.
The studio will return to theaters with The Mandalorian & Grogu on May 22, 2026. It will follow that release with Star Wars: Starfighter on May 28, 2027. None of those productions has confirmed casting tied to the rumor.
Sweeney previously discussed her experience on Madame Web, saying, “Well, I want to point out the timeline of projects and explain a few things…Madame Web was my first ever studio project that I ever got cast in.” She added, “I am so thankful to Sony because it was such a building block for me.” The actor continued, “While I was filming that, I was actually building the packages for Immaculate and Anyone But You.”
“I then took Anyone But You when I’d put the pitch together and I called up Sony and said, ‘Hey, we have this movie we’re filming together…let’s build a relationship,’ she said. Sweeney stated, ‘That’s how Anyone But You got made and I’d have never been able to do that without Madame Web.'”
