Billy Ray Cyrus is facing allegations of “narcissistic abuse” from his former wife, Firerose, in a recent Instagram post. The clip, which shows photos of the former couple, features an audio recording of a man, whom Firerose claims to be Cyrus, throwing profanity and abusive remarks.
Firerose accuses Billy Ray Cyrus of abuse
Firerose shared an Instagram video on January 21, accusing her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, of verbal abuse.
In the audio recording, the man can be heard saying, “shut your f****** mouth,” adding, “Stand there and cry, why don’t you stand there and cry. You deserve every bit of this. You won’t f****** stop, you are so selfish. The most selfish f****** human being I’ve ever known.”
At one point, Firerose responded with, “I don’t know when I’m allowed to talk and when I’m not.” The man then replied, “Right now, you’re not. Stop. It’s not my f****** fault.”
Along with the shocking video, Firerose penned a lengthy caption detailing her terrifying experience. “I spent years being terrified. I was trained to be afraid of what would happen if I even dared to think about sharing a glimpse of the truth I was living behind closed doors,” she wrote.
She added, “Over the years, my spirit was systematically worn down so that I became a shell of the person I was. That is always what happens with narcissistic abuse. It’s not an accident. It’s very much calculated so that the fear of sharing what’s really happening, overrides the agony of surviving it alone.”
Concluding the post, the Australian singer penned, “Only by the grace of God did I survive and have I found my voice again. The Bible tells us ‘do not be afraid’ 365 times, one for every day of the year. Thank Christ I’m not afraid anymore.”
Firerose and Billy Ray Cyrus, who got engaged in 2022, first met on the set of Hannah Montana. They tied the knot in October 2023. However, the marriage lasted less than a year after Cyrus filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The former couple accused each other of verbal and emotional abuse in the past, following their separation.
