Michael B. Jordan Names the Anime That Brought Him To Tears

Michael B. Jordan has reached new heights in his career, recently earning a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Ryan Coogler’s vampire drama, Sinners. While the 38-year-old actor is known for his tough roles in Creed and Black Panther, he recently proved he isn’t afraid to show his softer side. In Sinners, Jordan takes on the dual role of identical twins Smoke and Stack. Apparently, his transformation was so complete that his own mother didn’t recognize him on screen. As the actor explained, “My mom was taken aback! She didn’t see me, her child, which is the biggest compliment.”

Michael B. Jordan had a good cry while watching this anime

During a conversation with W Magazine, Michael B. Jordan opened up about the media that touches his heart. When asked about which film makes him cry, the actor shared, “I cried during Sinners. I also cried during the making of the film. Also, Armageddon gets me every time. I dropped tears in Armageddon big-time.”

But it was a specific Japanese animation that triggered a “really good cry.” Jordan explained that he dropped tears during the final season of the hit anime My Hero Academia. He further pointed to an emotional sequence involving Bakugo, a fiery character fans have followed since the first season.

Jordan shared, “…when Bakugo, a character from the first season, has this emotional moment where he finally gets recognized by one of his mentors and idols. It was beautiful.”

This isn’t the first time the actor has championed the medium, as he previously credited anime like Hajime no lppo for influencing the fight choreography in Creed III.

Beyond his love for animation, Jordan also touched upon his personal life and childhood habits during the interview. He joked that while he hasn’t dived into reality hits like Love Island, he did grow up with the Food Network on 24/7. And the early obsession with shows like Iron Chef turned him into a skilled cook today.
