The Copenhagen Test showrunners, Thomas Brandon and Jennifer Yale, recently offered an exciting update regarding Season 2. In a new interview, the pair revealed that they had envisioned a potential second season for the Simu Liu-led series. A second season for the sci-fi spy thriller show hasn’t been officially confirmed as of writing. However, the first season set up story avenues that could be explored in a follow-up installment.
The Copenhagen Test Season 2 ideas teased
Deadline recently interviewed Thomas Brandon and Jennifer Yale about key scenes and storylines in The Copenhagen Test Season 1. During the discussion, the outlet highlighted how the series set up a future storyline for Melissa Barrera’s Michelle and asked the showrunners if they had plans to explore it. They also brought up St. George’s love story and the backstory surrounding The Orphanage’s founding, asking if there were plans for a prequel series related to the same.
While Yale did not divulge any details and exclaimed, “Ooh, Peacock!” Brandon revealed that the creatives have thought about a second installment. However, the latter clarified that a Season 2 was currently “just thoughts.”
He further clarified that the show was conceived as an “ongoing series.” He added, “So there’s plans and ideas and hopes for what a second season could be.” Brandon echoed this statement in a separate interview with US Weekly. He also said that the show would “follow two things,” and answer questions surrounding the technology driving the series’s story.
The Copenhagen Test is currently streaming on Peacock. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently has a fresh score of 71% and an audience score of 78%. Meanwhile, Metacritic has given the series a metascore of 61 and a user score of 4.8. The former indicates “generally favorable” reviews, while the latter denotes “mixed or average” reception.
Besides Simu Liu and Melissa Barrera, The Copenhagen Test also stars Sinclair Daniel, Brian d’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, Kathleen Chalfant, and Saul Rubinek.
