Covert Affairs star Christopher Gorham offered a disappointing update regarding the television show’s revival, around 10 years after its cancellation. In a recent interview, the actor, who played Auggie Anderson in the action-adventure drama series, revealed that although he tried to push for a revival, the producers were uninterested in continuing it.
Before its cancellation, the series ran for five seasons between 2010 and 2014. Notably, the series ended on several major cliffhangers before its cancellation, leaving fans with numerous unresolved storylines.
Christopher Gorham says Covert Affairs producers don’t want Season 6 to happen
Gorham recently spoke to Soaps.com about the possibility of Covert Affairs Season 6. He said, “I’ve been pushing for years to try and get something going, and there’s been no takers from the studios is my understanding. I don’t know why.”
The Insatiable actor added that a series continuation “would be a blast,” stressing that his co-star and series lead, Piper Perabo, as well as the showrunners, Matt Corman and Chris Ord, would be interested in continuing the story. “And I don’t know why it hasn’t happened,” he reiterated.
Gorham also shared that he discussed Covert Affairs Season 6 with Perabo, adding that he had “just a banger of an idea for a story.” However, he explained that the executives who would finance the production “didn’t want to do” a sixth installment.
The Out of Practice star then offered insights into the plot details for a potential continuation. In the proposed storyline, Perabo’s Annie and Nic Bishop’s Ryan were married and working together at the latter’s company. He continued, “But then Annie finds out that Auggie’s gone missing, and Natasha has been killed, and so, she has to go and work with the CIA to go and find Auggie.”
Gorham added that Annie would find Auggie after going through “all kinds of craziness.” And then, she would decide to rejoin the CIA with Auggie and begin “working together as operatives” again. However, he clarified that the pair wouldn’t rekindle their romance.
He emphasized that fans of the show would follow its storylines and characters if it had “good writing.” The actor then addressed the possibility of Annie and August reigniting their romance. He said that while the pair “could end up together,” he did not feel that it had to happen. “Some people wanted her to end up with Oded [Fehr’s] character. They had great chemistry,” he continued. “And there were lots of fans perfectly happy with her ending up with McQuaid.”
Gorham said that although he was no longer hoping for a Covert Affairs continuation, he believed that his new show, Sheriff Country, in a way, continued the legacy.
