Pluribus team talks about Season 2
The team behind Pluribus has started discussing the direction of Season 2 as the writers continue developing the next chapter of the series. Creator Vince Gilligan recently confirmed that the writers’ room is already underway. Notably, several unresolved storylines from the finale are becoming major points of discussion.
Gilligan also addressed the growing fan speculation surrounding the “Others.” He discussed whether the series will eventually reveal a darker motive behind their actions. He explained, “We are all trained to watch science fiction, and indeed every kind of genre show, to look for the tropes. Sometimes less and more — even though we hit every trope I could think of in the first episode, just to have fun with it and subvert it (via Entertainment Weekly).”
The creator added, “Going forward, I’m sure we’ll hit a few more along the way, but sometimes the most fun thing to do is what you’re not expecting.” Rhea Seehorn, who plays Carol, also addressed the many fan theories surrounding the series. “I stay pretty firmly in the Vince camp,” Seehorn said while discussing the “massive amount” of fan theories surrounding the series. She added, “Because the answer is yes to all of them.”
Gilligan additionally praised Seehorn’s performance and revealed that the role was specifically written for the actress. He said, “Rhea gave Carol dimensions in season 1 that I would not have even seen coming, and I have no doubt that there’ll be more of that in season 2.” The writers also confirmed that the finale’s nuclear weapon reveal has already become a major subject inside the Season 2 writers’ room. “All I can say is we’ve discussed that to great length in the room,” Gilligan said.
More details are expected as the season moves forward.
