Raccoon’s Liquor Store Break-in Has a ‘Drunk’ End

Recently, a Raccoon reportedly broke into a liquor store in Ashland, Virginia and passed out in the store washroom. Authorities arrived at the scene, finding multiple liquor bottles broken on the floor and the Raccoon lying on the bathroom floor of the store. The unusual break-in soon became a talking point in the community, with the tipsy raccoon ultimately making it out alive.

Raccoon raids a liquor store and passes out

Virginia’s Hanover County Animal Protection responded to a call on the morning of November 29, from a liquor store in Ashland. Upon their arrival, the authorities found several bottles of liquor broken on the floor, with glass pieces scattered in the aisles. Further, to their surprise, in what seemed like a break-in, they came across a raccoon that passed out in the store bathroom after drinking the alcohol. The raccoon reportedly entered the store, ransacking the aisles and drinking itself to sleep.

The Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter posted photos from the scene on their facebook page, with a description of what went down at the store. Their statement noted, “On Saturday morning, Officer Martin responded to an unusual call at the Ashland ABC Store. Upon arrival, she discovered the “suspect” had broken in, ransacked several shelves, and then… passed out in the bathroom.”

Further referring to the “intoxicated raccoon,” it mentioned, “Officer Martin safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning. After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer.” The image in the post shows the ransacked shelves, with multiple bottles, some broken, fallen in the aisle. Additionally, the second photo shows the raccoon lying face down on the store’s bathroom floor after a good night of drinking.
