A new report has renewed speculation about Hunter Schafer’s potential role in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot. The latest update has fans revisiting past rumors about the Euphoria star.
Industry insider James Mack wrote on X, “If everything goes well, Mystique will be 5’10 tall in the MCU,” a detail that seemingly points to the height of the actor playing the mutant. The post does not explicitly identify an actress.
Some fans speculated that the post could be referring to Schafer, whose reported height matches the measurement. @acervoxmen wrote, “It has to be her,” while sharing a Google search that mentions Schafer with the same height. @jake_bunner reacted with “Holy Shi–,” posting the search result. @mischiefking__ also shared the same, while @miguelalbertor8 asked “Hunter schafer?”
The latest Mystique rumor adds another layer to Hunter Schafer’s MCU speculation
Hunter Schafer was first linked to Mystique in February last year, and she continued to appear in the MCU’s casting decisions. She even addressed the speculation at the time of the SAG Awards, saying that playing Mystique “would be cool.”
The speculation resurfaced earlier this year in April. According to MyTimeToShineHello, Schafer is still being considered for the role of Mystique in the reboot. Marvel has not confirmed her involvement, and the actress has not announced any participation in the project.
Other names, including Melissa Barrera and Elle Fanning, have been thrown in the mix alongside Schafer in casting reports. However, the latest detail has placed her back at the forefront of fan theories. None of these rumored casting choices have been officially confirmed.
Mystique is not the only X-Men role that has yet to be filled. Marvel has also not announced actors for Wolverine, Beast, Magneto, Angel, Iceman, Gambit, Kitty Pryde, and others.
The untitled X-Men film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
