A new rumor regarding Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie has surfaced online. It refers to a specific mutant who has recently joined the X-Men lore and once played a key role in defeating the Hulk.
According to scooper @JamesMackwl, the movie’s script includes a character named Miranda Manuel. While casual X-Men fans may not recognize her, those who are familiar with the comics may understand how this character has influenced the broader Marvel universe.
Miranda Manuel, also known as D-Cel, can manipulate kinetic energy, which allows her to slow down moving objects. This power was especially useful when fighting against Juggernaut, whose ability depends on accumulating kinetic energy to gain momentum. D-Cel’s kinetic-energy manipulation and Juggernaut’s momentum-based power temporarily slowed down Hulk in the comic issue Juggernaut #2. Damage Control was also a part of the encounter.
D-Cel’s Marvel Comics story goes beyond her surprising Hulk encounter
D-Cel’s involvement in the story could suggest that the Juggernaut might be adapted as a hero rather than the villain he was in older iterations of the X-Men. Her partnership with Juggernaut has brought Manuel into conflict with some of Marvel’s most powerful characters. She has a resistance to telepathy, a side effect of her power, which makes her a natural ally for someone like Juggernaut. D-Cel has also crossed paths with iconic characters like Deadpool, helping him take down the Human Adaptoid. She has also joined Bishop’s War College, a program that trains future War Captains of Krakoa.
If the reported script reference is accurate, Miranda Manuel’s role in the movie could indicate that the X-Men’s comic storylines will be integrated into the new MCU, following Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel has not yet confirmed any involvement of D-Cel in the upcoming X-Men reboot or any other plot details. The untitled film is set to be released on May 5, 2028.
