Marvel fans have spent months searching for clues about who might not survive Avengers: Doomsday. With Doctor Doom expected to pose a major threat to the MCU heroes, speculation about potential casualties has become part of the conversation surrounding the upcoming film.
Now, a new social media exchange has given Ant-Man fans another reason to worry. A seemingly harmless moment involving Scott Lang and Sam Wilson has taken on a darker meaning after fans connected it to ongoing theories about the character’s future.
An X (formerly Twitter) account named Marvel Multiverse shared a post featuring side-by-side images of Lang teasing Wilson, first as Falcon in an earlier scene and later as Captain America.
Additionally, MyTimeToShineHello quoted the tweet and, seemingly giving away a little too much, wrote, “But it might be the LAST.” The exchange doesn’t confirm anything about Lang’s fate, but its timing has certainly caught the attention of viewers already expecting painful losses in the next Avengers installment.
Scott Lang’s history with the Avengers makes this rumor even more interesting
The speculation began after Marvel-related footage showed Scott Lang interacting with Sam Wilson, who now carries the Captain America mantle. In an earlier scene, Scott playfully teased Sam when he was still known as Falcon.
The theory has gained attention because some viewers already consider Ant-Man among the characters vulnerable in Doomsday. He’s been in the Avengers’ biggest battles, but a potential sacrifice could serve a larger purpose if the heroes find themselves cornered by Doctor Doom.
Scott Lang’s history with the team makes the possibility particularly difficult for longtime fans. Scott has repeatedly brought humor to the MCU, even when the stakes have been high. He also played an important role in the events that eventually helped the Avengers reverse Thanos’ victory in Avengers: Endgame.
There is another reason the theory has attracted attention. Scott was reportedly considered for a death in an earlier version of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, although that outcome never made it into the film. That history has given fans another talking point for speculation about his future.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18. Until Marvel reveals more about the story, Ant-Man fans will have to wait to see whether the latest theory holds any truth.
