Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for The Social Reckoning. The highly anticipated biographical drama serves as a companion piece for David Fincher’s 2010 hit The Social Network.
The Social Reckoning is arriving exclusively in theatres on October 9, 2026. Written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, who also penned The Social Network, the movie is inspired by the controversial 2021 Facebook leak involving the whistleblower Frances Haugen and Jeff Horwitz.
The leaked documents showed that Facebook was aware of the harmful societal effects of its social media platform. However, instead of addressing the concerns, the company continues to prioritize profit.
The movie’s official logline reads, “Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.”
The Social Reckoning stars Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. The Meta CEO was previously played by Jesse Eisenberg in The Social Network. The new movie also stars Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White as the whistleblower Frances Haugen and investigative reporter Jeff Horwitz, respectively. Other cast members include Bill Burr, Wunmi Mosaku, Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, and more.
