Jeremy Strong recently revealed what exactly he told Mark Zuckerberg after being cast in The Social Reckoning. Before commencing filming, Strong contacted Zuckerberg to discuss some important details.
Strong will portray Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning. But before that, the actor wanted to get an accurate picture of the character he would play. In a recent interview with GQ, the 47-year-old said, “I wrote to him—I’m probably going to give Sony an aneurysm—I sent him an email. Just to say that I take this responsibility very seriously, and the veracity of it seriously, and I’m approaching it with respect.”
However, while Strong revealed that Zuckerberg replied, the actor did not want to disclose the exact details of their discussions. Interestingly, this won’t be the first time that Strong has played a real-life character. He has portrayed figures such as Lee Harvey Oswald, Jon Landau, Jerry Rubin, and Roy Cohn.
How Social Reckoning brings Mark Zuckerberg’s story to the screen
The upcoming movie will be a ‘companion piece’ to the 2010s’ The Social Network, which narrated Facebook and Zuckerberg’s origin story. The movie will also explore some of the controversies Facebook has been involved in. The story will have elements from 2021’s The Wall Street Journal’s ‘The Facebook Files.’ It brought in serious allegations about the platform, accusing it of allowing VIP accounts to post content that might instigate violence.
The synopsis, per IMDB, reads, “Follows Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, who enlisted the help of Jeff Horwitz, a Wall Street Journal reporter, to blow the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.”
