X-Men MCU Casting Rumor Suggests Adam Driver Is Playing [Spoiler] Instead of Magneto

A surprising scoop placed Adam Driver as Magneto but he may play someone else entirely. Several insiders previously claimed that Driver would play the metal-controlling mutant in the MCU’s X-Men reboot, sparking a fierce debate among fans.

Scooper Apocalyptic Horseman has now claimed that Adam Driver will actually be playing X-Men villain Mister Sinister. The scooper also noted that Marvel Studios is looking at Bill Skarsgard, among others, to play Professor X, and that Cooper Hoffman is “in the mix for Cyclops.” It should be noted that this is only a rumor, and it should be treated as such at this time, as Marvel Studios has not officially announced any casting for the film.

Previously, some scoopers had suggested that Oscar nominee Wagner Moura was Marvel’s “top choice” to play Mister Sinister. Outside of Magneto and Apocalypse, Sinister, or Nathaniel Essex, is one of Marvel comics’ most beloved antagonists. The character was once teased for the X-Men films in the post-credits scene of 2013’s The Wolverine, but the idea was never executed. Sinister made his debut in The Uncanny X-Men #221. The villain has survived many encounters by using several clones, and his powers are a result of genetic engineering at Apocalypse’s hands.

Marvel Studios has been rumored to introduce Sadie Sink as Jean Grey in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The MCU already has two mutants in Ms. Marvel and Namor.

Before the reboot, fans will see the original X-Men cast appear on screen once again in Avengers: Doomsday. The film will unite them with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four for the first time in live-action feature films.

The X-Men reboot currently doesn’t have a release date.
