Which X-Men character might be getting a Marvel Special Presentation?
A few months ago, Marvel released a Disney+ Special Presentation featuring Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. The 48-minute special focused on the character and introduced him to a wider MCU audience. Recently, a scooper claimed that some X-Men characters could also receive their own short films.
In a post by Scooper @mainmiddleman, he stated that Marvel would be putting out ‘Special Presentations’ for “core X-Men” members. In the post, he stated, “I was told that, according to internal studio decisions, some of the core X-Men characters will be featured in the Special Presentation format to give them the attention they deserve.”
He also claimed that the same source said Mystique would be one of the characters to receive a Special Presentation on Disney+.
However, it is unclear whether the special would focus on Mystique’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday or the X-Men Reboot. No rumored release window has been provided for these Special Presentations. Some speculation suggests the Mystique special would feature the reboot version of the shape-shifting mutant and could release in 2027.
While Rebecca Romijn will reprise her role as Mystique in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel has not officially announced the reboot’s cast. It was previously rumored that Hunter Schafer would take on the role. However, another recent scoop claimed that Marvel wants Margot Robbie to play the mutant.
That said, all of this is only a rumor and should be treated as such, as no Marvel Disney+ special or official cast details have been officially announced by the studio. The reboot will be directed by Jake Schreier and is slated to release on May 5, 2028. The project is still in its early stages, with Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo reportedly working on the script.
Romijn’s Mystique could next appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
