Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly take issue with the term “working royals.” According to a report, the couple believes they are members of the royal family who also work. Their stance caught the attention of Piers Morgan, who offered to “help” the Sussexes while taking a swipe at the couple.
Piers Morgan sarcastically helps Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after recent remark
Piers Morgan has reacted to reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle dislike the phrase “working members of the royal family.” The Sunday Times royal editor, Roya Nikkhah, shared the report on X, highlighting the couple’s alleged objections to the term.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ‘hate’ the phrase ‘working members of the royal family,’ believing it to be a ‘lazy’ definition of royal duty. ‘They are members of the royal family, and they work,’ say friends. Views that won’t help ease tensions with the royal family, @thetimes,” she wrote.
Morgan subsequently responded to the post with a sarcastic jab at the Sussexes, questioning the nature of their work and accusing them of profiting from their royal connections.
“Let me help them Royals do endless duties for the good of their country. These two grifters are doing fake ‘royal work’ to line their own pockets. It’s shameless, shameful, and should be stopped, ” the English broadcaster wrote.
A friend of Harry and Markle told The Sunday Times that the couple dislikes being described as “working members of the royal family.” The friend argued that although the Sussexes no longer work for the royal institution, they continue to carry out professional duties alongside their family responsibilities.
“They are not ‘working’ for the institution but they are members of the royal family and they work. Their days are built around their family life and their work. She’s running a business seven days a week,” the friend said.
Moreover, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly object to being referred to as “former royals.” The friend pointed to their recent engagement in Nottingham, explaining, “Things like Nottingham aren’t done in the name of the institution or the crown.”
However, the source emphasized that “Harry is the son of the King.” Thus, he remains a member of the royal family, even though he is no longer part of the institution. The individual further argued that the terminology used to describe the Sussexes could influence public perception of the couple. “It’s misleading to call them ‘former royals’. It has an impact on how they’re perceived and the way people talk about them,” the friend added.
