Nimrods trailer is out with Mckenna Grace, Mason Thames, and rock band Green Day in it. The comedy movie is helmed by Lee Kirk and also stars Jenna Fischer, among others.
The official synopsis for the film reads, “Nimrods is a coming-of-age story about three friends (Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust) who journey to Los Angeles, mistakenly believing that their band is opening for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. Their road trip is a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country filled with adventures, based on the exploits of Green Day and their years of living in a tour van.”

What do we see in the Nimrods trailer?
The Nimrods trailer shows Mason Thames as a teenage kid who goes on a wild road trip with his two friends, played by Coffman and Foust. They somehow assume that they are going to open for the famous rock band Green Day. What follows is a series of hilarious events leading to the concert.
The comedy movie’s plot is inspired by Green Day’s real-life adventures living out of a van before the massive success of their 1994 Grammy-winning debut album, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Nimrods also features Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Angela Kinsey, Bobby Lee, Sean Gunn, Fred Armisen, and more.
Interestingly, the film was previously titled New Years Rev but was changed later. Nimrods has Tim Perell, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool as the producers. Ryan Kroft, Michael Rapino, and Jonathan Daniel are serving as the executive producers. The movie comes from Inaugural Entertainment, in collaboration with Legion M and Live Nation Studios.

“Nimrods is the kind of film that audiences are going to want to experience together in a theater. It captures the humor, chaos and rebellious spirit that made Green Day such a cultural force,” said Inaugural Entertainment CEO Kevin Weisberg in a previous statement.
Last month, the movie received its poster alongside the release date. After premiering at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, Nimrods will hit theaters this year, on August 14, 2026.
